Suus was born in a little village that was surrounded by meadows. As a little girl, you could find her most of the time in the surrounding countryside. The love for nature is something she felt from the very beginning of youth.
Although nature and animals were important to her, she eventually decided to study psychology. During this study she participated in a project relating to different forms of communication. The form that struck her most was communication by means of a flat, non-moving image. The realisation that a single picture can have more impact than a conversation that last for hours was what got her extremely interested in photography.
Suus loves the idea that by making pictures two dimensions disappear. Of course the dimension “depth” disappears, but more important to her is that the dimension ”time” disappears. Photographing is just about one moment, without the past and without the future, no worries about anything. For her that’s magical about photography and that’s why she loves it so much. Just living in the moment: Carpe Diem!
Her work is represented by stock agency Foto Natura (Minden pictures) and has been published by several magazines.
“For me nature is a perfect world. I’d like to photograph nature as if it is art, because art is the perfect way to represent feelings. I hope my pictures represent the love I feel for nature. Why? Because in the end people will only protect what they love.”
